16 April 2007, San Ramon, CA. Peninsula
Engineering Solutions inc. has successfully
completed a Telecom and Alternative Power project
for the US Department of Energy’s Yucca
Mountain Civilian Radioactive Nuclear Waste
Management Site (OCRWM). Peninsula Engineering
Solutions inc. working with CNSI of Rockville,
MD designed and supplied the Microwave RF Repeaters
and Solar power solutions to operate a remote
mountain top, Y-Junction, repeater site. Peninsula
Engineering Solutions also supplied all the
microwave and UHF antennas with feedlines for
the four sites in the project.
This mountain top Telecom site is key to carrying
high speed communications, IP data and alarms
for the Yucca Mountain Radioactive Nuclear
Waste Management Site. High speed communications
was one of the significant tasks remaining
before commissioning the Waste Management Facility.
The
project included two Higher Powered Microwave
RF Repeaters, Remote Monitoring & Alarm System
and a complete Hybrid Solar Power System with
back up motor generator. The two duplex, redundant,
microwave RF repeaters and alarm telemetry equipment
consume less than 110 Watts of DC power.
